Goodie Bags And Hugs Aren't All They are Cracked Up to Be!

Saturday morning at 8:30am my 3 year old daughter Lily and I were driving to a birthday party that she was invited to by a pre-school classmate named Aidan. Aidan is a boy.

We were gracefully gliding down the freeway listening to a little Michael Jackson while I absorbed my second cup of coffee, when I notice Lily is just sitting in her car seat beaming. She has the biggest smile on her face. So, I turn down "Beat It" and ask Lily what she is smiling about. Lily pipes out "Aidan loves me."

SCREEEEEECH!

"What did you say Lily?"

Lily replies "Aidan loves me."

I say "He does? That's nice."

Then Lily tells me that she loves Aidan too and that he invited her to his birthday party and they love each other.

I am thinking this is totally hillarious. Wait - no, this isn't funny at all! What is going on over there at that pre-school!!??

The conversation didn't evolve into any more than that but I have to say I was a little weirded out by it!

We had a great time at the party and I kept a close eye on Aidan the entire time (if you know what I mean). I didn't have any cause for concern except the goodbye hug at the end (which everyone took part in).

When we were driving home from the party, Lily told me that she really loved Aidan and that he gave her a present (a goodie bag) and a hug.

I was thinking to myself, 'Lily, I hate to blow it to you but everyone got a goodie bag and a hug from Aidan.'

THANK GOD!
