My Favorite Christmas Day Memory

I will cut to the chase and share that it has been a challenge for my daughter Lily to "accept" her younger brother Jack into the family. They are 15.5 months apart. His arrival was not only devastating for Lily but caused her a great deal of stress, jealousy and anger, no matter how much he adored her the last two years.

The last six months have been much better. The two of them are learning how much fun they can have together and are actually playing together, laughing and sometimes even....sharing!

I need to take a moment here to collect myself... tic...toc...tic....toc!

While things are still not Disneyland, they are far better than when we first started.

My most favorite memory of Christmas 2010 will be Lily running out to the Christmas tree to see if Santa had been to our house. When she saw that he had been to our home...she bypassed all of her toys and ran straight up to a toy that she knew Jack had really wanted for Christmas (a Buzz Lightyear Doll). She grabbed the doll and dashed right into her younger brothers room and announced "Look Jackie! Santa brought you a Buzz Lightyear Doll!" It was the sweetest moment. Real progress! To see her share excitement for him made my entire day.

To see she had gotten the Christmas message "tis better to give than receive" made my heart dance. And even if she didn't get that message - I am still gonna roll w/ it! :) Ha!

It's A Sign!

Thus far, I have received SEVEN cookbooks for my birthday this year. It is a sign. A sign of...

Frustration?

Hope?

Encouragement?

I hate to be a Debbie downer - BUT- what else am I supposed to think? I guess I will just keep at it!

I'll show'm! ;)
